Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) has been at the forefront of improving children’s health since its founding as the first pediatric hospital in the United States almost 180 years ago. And that was only CHOP’s first “first.” It boasts the first medical resident training program, the first research institute, the first intensive care unit for surgical and pediatric patients, the first closed incubator, and more in its first 100 years. More recently, it has developed the first test to diagnose a form of congenital hyperinsulinism, enabling a surgical cure; the first gene therapy for a genetic disease (LUXTURNA); and the first pediatric patient treated with CAR T-cell therapy. Our history informs our present. Our physician-scientists relentlessly innovate in all areas of research to find solutions to improve overall health for children. Wet bench, dry bench, big data, nanoparticles, in a specific unit, in the community — and everything in between — are within our scope of research. Our research discoveries drive improvements in clinical care. “Bench to bedside” isn’t just a clever phrase; it’s our way of operating. The breakthroughs in our labs deliver breakthroughs for our patients. Join us to make breakthroughs: in research, in clinical care, in our community, and by training the next generation. Welcome to our AAP National Conference booth. We invite you to stop by to meet us at booth #101 to check out the resources we have available for you. Be sure to follow us across social platforms @childrensphila to see when our clinical experts will be spending time in our booth and plan a time to engage in a live chat based on your interests.
