We are a pediatrician-founded and led public health non-profit on a mission to help families, and communities overcome barriers to eating well. As we emerge from the pandemic, more diet and lifestyle-related adverse health outcomes are plaguing children and adults alike. At the root of these issues is a reliance on ultra-processed foods low in essential nutrients, combined with an uptake in picky eating and the loss of a family culture around cooking and sharing meals. We offer practical and impactful solutions based on our founder’s 24 years of clinical pediatric experience and understanding of feeding development to create programs for early childhood educators and pediatricians to impact entire families, from babies to grandparents. Dr. Yum's Touchpoints, a program for pediatricians, teaches children and families healthy lifestyle behaviors in accordance with the American Academy of Pediatrics 2023 “Clinical Practice Guideline for the Evaluation and Treatment of Children and Adolescents with Obesity.” Dr. Yum’s Preschool Food Adventure is a research-backed interactive curriculum that introduces preschoolers to the joy of eating fruits and vegetables. Written by a multidisciplinary team of child experts, The Adventure now serves more than 16,700 students in 40 states and three countries. Our website, DoctorYum.org is an ecosystem of free nutrition information for families, children, teachers and physicians. Highlights include our recipe catalog of over 220 recipes. Tools like Dr. Yum's Meal-o-Matic allow users to make a custom recipe with foods available at home. We feature blogs and articles written by a variety of experts and printable downloads for families, physicians, and food distribution sites in both English and Spanish. The Dr. Yum Project is a proud Council Member at Tufts University Nutrition Innovation Institute and founding member of the Partnership for a Healthier America’s cross-sector nutrition campaign, “Veggies Early and Often.”
