Dr. Cristin McDermott is a Triple Board trained and board-certified in Pediatrics, General Psychiatry and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. She is also board-certified in Pediatric Hospital Medicine. She served as the Associate Program Director for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Triple Board Residency from 2017 – 2022. She was also an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Pediatrics & Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine during that same time period. While in Pittsburgh, Dr. McDermott practiced as a pediatric hospitalist with the Paul C. Gaffney Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine, and as a child & adolescent psychiatrist on the Pediatric Consultation & Liaison service at the UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Dr. McDermott moved to Connecticut in January 2023, as the Division Chief of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.
Dr. McDermott’s interests include physician wellbeing, pediatric hospitalist medicine, comorbid medical and psychiatric diagnoses, and medical education. She has presented locally and nationally on physician well-being, with a special focus on the use of the appreciative inquiry approach to systemic and programmatic change and development.
