Settler colonialism is a social formation that has shaped societies around the world, including in North America. Increasingly, scholars have been seeking to understand the health outcomes and inequities from ‘upstream’ or structural determinants of health, one of which being historical processes such as settler colonialism. Faculty will introduce the idea of the settler colonial determinants of health (SCDH) and how they may help practitioners elucidate the upstream drivers of indigenous health and considerations for caring for indigenous or internally displaced children.
