Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), also known as “forever chemicals”, comprise a large group of human-made chemicals used in a wide range of commercial applications. Micro- and nanoplastics are particles less than 5 millimeters dispersed from weathering of plastics. Faculty will examine these emerging pollutants, which often appear in news stories or social media and prompt questions from concerned families. This session will summarize sources, routes of exposure, health effects, and practical tips for counseling families.
