Kimberly Randell, MD, MSc is a pediatric emergency medicine physician at Children’s Mercy Kansas City. She is trained in the Attachment, Regulation and Competency (ARC) Framework for trauma-informed care. Her research and advocacy focuses on both adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) in general and the specific adversities of adolescent relationship abuse and childhood exposure to intimate partner violence, as well as interventions to address ACEs in pediatric healthcare settings. As Co-Chair of Children’s Mercy’s Intimate Partner Violence Work Group, she coordinates the hospital’s universal IPV education and screening program. She is also a member of the hospital’s Psychosocial Screening Task Force, which is responsible for standardization of psychosocial screenings at Children’s Mercy. She served as an inaugural member of the Medical Advisory Board at Rose Brooks Center, a Kansas City IPV agency, and is a volunteer mentor at Amethyst Place, a supported living center for moms recovering from addiction and their children.
