Dr. Ruchi Kaushik received her medical degree from Dayanand Medical College and Hospital in India in 2001 and completed training in General Pediatrics at the Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo in 2004. She began practice as a pediatric hospitalist and primary care pediatrician at Boys Town Pediatrics in Omaha, Nebraska, and subsequently at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, where she also earned a masters in public health at the University of Minnesota. After serving as medical director of The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio Complex Care Clinic and associate professor of pediatrics and associate pediatric residency program director at the Baylor College of Medicine, Dr. Kaushik is now a fellow in Hospice and Palliative Medicine at University of Texas Health, San Antonio. Her academic interests include peer mentorship, curriculum design, and pediatric resident education in advocacy, complex care, and DEI. Dr. Kaushik has published curricular outcomes on the topics of health care transition, firearm safety, and peer mentoring, and outcomes of her comprehensive complex care curriculum are currently under review. She is expected to earn a masters in education at the University of Houston in the summer of 2023. Her work has earned her several awards including the MedEdPORTAL’s Outstanding Reviewer of the Year, San Antonio Business Journal’s Woman of the Year, Pediatric Resident Choice Humanism in Medicine award, and the Texas Pediatric Society Early Career Award. Dr. Kaushik enjoys crossword puzzles, crocheting, running, and forever learning and has lived in San Antonio for the past eight years with her husband and three teenage daughters.
